VONORE, Tenn. -- Noncommissioned officers from five nations and the United States toured Fort Loudoun State Historic Area in Vonore, Tenn., Sept. 20 as part of a cultural day.
The Air National Guard’s I.G. Brown Training and Education Center near Knoxville is hosting the 39 NCOs this week for the International Noncommissioned Officer Enlisted Leadership Development Seminar.
Their morning tour included the Tennessee River peninsula that surrounds Fort Loudoun. The fort once housed British soldiers as a western outpost from 1756-1760 who served in relations with the Cherokee.
A park ranger garbed in an 18th century, redcoat, infantry uniform directed the group through the park as well as gave a flintlock rifle demonstration.
The NCOs included six from Canada, five from Germany, nine from the Netherlands, three from Switzerland, five from the U.K. and 11 from the U.S.
