    II Marine Expeditionary Force

CAMP DAVIS, N.C. – Marines with 2nd Air Delivery, 2nd Transportation Support Battalion, 2nd Marine Logistics Group, conducted parachute jumps to certify new jumpers with the MC-7 parachute at Camp Davis, N.C., Aug. 18, 2016.
Marines with 2nd TSB must be certified with the Marine Corps issued parachute, MC-7, as a perquisite to jump out of an aircraft or to be attached to a special operations unit. Air delivery specialists supply personnel as well as cargo to increase mission readiness.
“With this MC-7 parachute, we are able to do water jumps,” said Sgt. William Ressler, platoon sergeant for 2nd Air Delivery. This allows them to be a better asset to their unit.
The Marines that are jumping for the first time with the MC-7 are called transitioners. They are switching from the TS-11 parachute, an older Army parachute, to the newer Marine Corps issued MC-7.
“I am excited to be jumping for the first time with this parachute,” said Lance Cpl. Clarrysa Salcedo, an air delivery specialist and transitioner.
For a few Marines, this is their first time exiting an aircraft since jump school and this certification helps them gain experience to be ready and able to go on different operations.
“This helps them be capable and more efficient in their field,” said Ressler.
After this exercise, the transitioners will be certified as basic airborne jumpers and know how to accurately jump with the MC-7 parachute.
