    Marine Corps Logistics Base Barstow

Members of the United States House Armed Services Committee visited Marine Corps Logistics Base Barstow as part of a tour of southern California military installations 5 Aug.

Included in the party were Mr. Andrew B. Warren, Readiness Subcommittee, Mr. Barron Youngsmith, Communications Director/Counsel, Ms. Anna Waterfield, Research Assistant for the Oversight and Investigations Subcommittee, Col Joseph W. Jones, USMC, House Liaison Office and Military Escort, and Mr. George Ellis, MCI-West G-3 Regional Range and Training Area Planner.

Major Christian Carlson, operations officer, MCLB Barstow, stated the group was taking part in a tour of military installations in the Southland under control of Marine Corps Installations West headquartered at Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton.

After landing the hybrid MV-22 Osprey on the parade deck at MCLB Barstow, the group conducted a brief meeting with Lt. Col. Thomas P. Favor, executive officer, MCLB Barstow, before heading out on a driving tour of Production Plant Barstow, Marine Corps Maintenance Depot Command.

They also toured Fleet Support Division aboard the Yermo Annex of MCLB Barstow as well as Rail Operations. The base boasts the largest railhead in the entire Department of Defense.
Carlson stated, “Mr. Warren was very appreciative of the visit and was pleasantly surprised at the true extent of Bartow's contributions to the Marine Corps and DoD writ large. Mr. Warren is a recently retired Marine, but this was his first visit to MCLB Barstow,” Carlson concluded.
