FORWARD OPERATING BASE DELTA, Iraq - Media are invited to attend the Transfer of Authority ceremony between the 214th Fires Brigade, Fort Sill, Okla., and the 41st Fires Brigade, Fort Hood, Texas, June 26 from 10-11 a.m., at Forward Operating Base Delta.
Col. Peter Baker, 214th FB commander, will relinquish control to Col. Richard Francey, 41st Fires Brigade commander. The 214th FB is responsible for the life support of coalition forces on FOB Delta. It is also responsible for upgrading and providing force protection for the residents of FOB Delta, conducting operations to stop the flow of accelerants through Wasit province, assisting in the facilitation and synchronization of operations with the Iraqi security forces and building the capacity of the ISF and the Wasit government.
The brigade is also the lead on humanitarian and civil assistance missions in Wasit.
The 41st FB will assume those duties and responsibilities. Baker and Francey will be available for interviews following the ceremony.
