The “Can Do” battalion deployed with four companies from 3-15 Inf. Reg. including Charlie, Delta, Golf and Headquarters and Headquarters Company.
The Soldiers focused on developing the Ukrainian army’s ability to conduct defensive operations at a battalion-level and defend the sovereignty of their nation.
Spc. Curtis Russell, Company C , 3-15th Inf. Reg. talked about how glad he is to be home. “It's great to be back in the United States. I’ve been to Iraq and now Ukraine,” said Russell. “Being to both of those countries it makes you appreciate home.”
The returning troops look forward to reconnecting with family and friends.
“It's great to get the boys back home and reunited with their families,” said Command Sergeant Major Tom Dow, command sergeant major, 3-15th Inf. Reg.
“First thing I’m going to do now is go home, show some to love my kids, my wife and eat tacos,” said Sgt. 1st Class Travis Kelbaugh, an infantry platoon sergeant with Company C, 3-15th Inf. Reg.
The Soldiers are ready to stay resilient after completing their mission in Ukraine.
“We are moving into team leader and squad leader courses and back into individual training. From here the soldiers are going to get some much needed leave,” Dow explained.
The Soldiers enjoyed Ukraine's terrain and culture.
“Great country. It's very beautiful and the culture was amazing,” Kelbaugh explained. “There is so much history in Ukraine and its cities.”
