Navy Expeditionary Combat Command (NECC) announced its July Civilian of the Month in Virginia Beach, June 28.
Christopher Saat, who is from Clay City, Kentucky, was chosen as the July Civilian of the Month for his contributions to Information Technology readiness for NECC forces.
Saat is assigned to NECC's Command, Control, Communications, Computers and Intelligence (C4I) team and serves as the subject-matter expert on Information technology plans, requirements, and governance processes.
“Christopher expertly coordinated Requirements Review Board, Technical Review Board and Expeditionary C5ISR Requirements Governance with all required stakeholders to ensure standardization across the force and development of the optimal solution to meet the global war fighter requirement,” said Nancy Harned, NECC’s executive director. “His expertise and experience also ensure that NECC C5ISR equities are well represented in the Expeditionary Warfare Improvement Program, which identifies and prioritizes capability gaps and resource needs.”
Saat, who retired from active duty in 2012, brings a wealth of Navy amphibious, mine warfare and operational planning to NECC in addition to his information technology expertise. Saat discussed receiving the accolade and his decision to continue to serve his nation.
"It was a very humbling experience to be chosen out of the superb civil service members who support NECC," said Saat. "It continues to be a great honor to be able to assist the expeditionary Sailors across the globe that focuses on accomplishing the warfighting mission while NECC works to provide them the right tools to get the job done."
NECC is an enduring warfighting force providing sea-to-shore and inland operating environment capabilities across the full range of military operations that is focused on delivering combat effective expeditionary forces ready for worldwide operations now and into the future.
