BAGRAM AIRFIELD, AFGHANISTAN (June 20, 2016) – Several U.S. Army and U.S. Air Force air crew and ground support staff service members were recognized for their excellent performance of duty while deployed here in support of the Resolute Support Mission.
German Army Lt. Gen. Frank Leidenberger, RS chief of staff, traveled from the Kabul headquarters, to have lunch with the group and to personally thank the service members and to present each of them with an RSM coin.
The list of Soldiers and Airmen recognized:
U.S. Army (4th Combat Aviation Brigade)
- Spc. Olivia A. Palmer
- Spc. Alfonso Marquez
- Sgt. Aaron T. Castelli
- Spc. Nicolas Pontarelli
U.S. Air Force (455th Air Expeditionary Wing)
- Tech. Sgt. Danny Reed
- Staff Sgt. Brandon Wilson
- Staff Sgt. Joseph Real
- Tech. Sgt. Marvin Bell
“You are all great, we are proud of you. We are all depending on you,” said Leidenberger. “ Whatever your job is here at BAF. RS Mission depends on you [U.S. Forces Afghanistan] for capabilities and you [the service members] are the cornerstone of those capabilities.”
He added, “We are most grateful for what you are doing for the mission, but also for us as a coalition.”
Leidenberger concluded the luncheon wishing the aviation team members well, “Thanks for that, stay safe,” and noting their duties with aviation status, he added “many happy landings.”
