SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico – On May 18, the Veterans Administration Caribbean Healthcare System (VACHS) Community Living Center (CLC) received the honor to be ranked number six and a four star rating among the 135 CLC’s nationwide, and number one between all the 1A hospitals operated by VA.

“It is an honor to know that one of our services has been recognized among the top CLC’s nationwide. We at the VA Caribbean Healthcare System continue to work hard in all areas to ensure our nation’s heroes receive the best medical treatment in the market.

We want our Veterans to continue to receive services not available to them elsewhere. Our goal is to ensure our employees continue with the commitment to treat our Veterans with the passion and great level of professionalism our Veterans deserve, and ensure no Veteran is left behind from receiving world class medical treatment,” said VACHS Director, DeWayne Hamlin.

“It has been a rewarding experience. For the past years we have undergone difficult situations and this honor is like a reward for the hard work and effort we have put in to make it better. This award shows the level of care we are offering our patients, Veterans that live with us either for 3 months of three years,” said Gladys Navarro, CLC chief nurse.

“I feel proud to know it is a clear recognition of our hard work and the care we offer our Veterans,” said Navarro.

According to the CLC Medical Director, Dr. Gretchen Collazo, “I feel super proud. I have been dedicated to the CLC for the past two years. Getting to know the staff and how they work I couldn’t expect any less than four stars based on their dedication and quality of services they provide to those who served.”
