JOINT BASE MCGUIRE-DIX-LAKEHURST, N.J. – Soldiers of 358th Engineer Company, 365th Engineer Battalion are constructing a new latrine facility at Range 11 today as part of the Castle Installation Related Construction exercise here.
The new structure is being erected behind the range classrooms at the site of the existing latrines.
“We have to tear [the old structure] down by hand, because we’re using the same concrete pad underneath to build the new one up,” said Sgt. Brandon Myers, the project site supervisor.
The project did not start out smoothly, but the team still got to work.
“We were initially told that [the old structure] was wooden, but when we got here we discovered it was metal,” said Myers. “The platoon has done really well at adjusting fire and making it happen.”
Myers is supervising 12 Soldiers on this project.
The project is scheduled to be completed by June 19.
