    Navy Expeditionary Combat Command

Navy Expeditionary Combat Command (NECC) announced its June Civilian of the Month in Virginia Beach, June 1.

NECC's Richard Roberts, who is assigned to N43 Materiel Readiness Table of Allowance Operations Branch, is responsible for providing guidance to all NECC Forces regarding Mine Resistant Ambush Protected (MRAP) Vehicle management, and associated MRAP funding.

Roberts, who served in the U.S. Navy for 30 years as a Supply Corps officer, retired at the rank of lieutenant commander. Additionally, Roberts has continued his service to our nation by working for the Department of Navy for the past 13 years.

"My total focus in life is to support the warfighter and to promote anything and everything that helps the young men and women working at the pointy end of the spear," said Roberts, who hails from Mobile, Alabama and appreciated being recognized for his support to the expeditionary warfighters.

"It is tremendous honor to be recognized and this award means that the contributions I make on a daily basis are important to the warfighters I enjoy supporting," said Roberts. "I didn't expect it, but I appreciate that the command thinks enough of me to recognize me for what I do."

NECC's Executive Director Nancy Harned emphasized Roberts' accomplishments and valued support to NECC's forces deployed worldwide.

"He collaborated with lower-echelon commands, systems commands, program offices, U.S. Fleet Forces Command, U.S. Pacific Fleet, and OPNAV representatives to complete tasks and develop overarching guidance for NECC/NECCPAC container management," said Harned, who added his guidance was instrumental in accounting of NECC unit containers deployed worldwide to maintain critical equipment for our warfighters' use.

In addition to his expertise in container management, Roberts oversees the combatant craft and vehicle oversight for NECC forces in an excess of $10 million.

"His expertise and experience in Maritime Prepositioning Force Operations and planning has been critical to ensure NECC equities are represented in joint working groups," said Harned. "Thank you, Richard, for your contribution to the readiness of NECC warfighters across the globe."

NECC is an enduring warfighting force providing sea-to-shore and inland operating environment capabilities across the full range of military operations that is focused on delivering combat effective expeditionary forces ready for worldwide operations now and into the future.
