    60th Air Mobility Wing

The Retiree Council is an all-volunteer council that assess the impact of programs on the retiree population here and serves in the advisory capacity to the Air Force Personnel Center and Air Staff commanders on retiree issues in their regions.
“Our role is to be in engaged on how to improve the life of retirees, be the voice of the retiree personnel and their families,” said retired Chief Master Sgt. David Wigley, Retiree Council director at Travis Air Force Base, California. “We want to be involved in the Air Force and still have an impact.”
Retired Lt. Gen. Stephen Hoog, the Council Co-Chairmen, is seeking assistance in identifying a family member to represent the Air Force retired community.
Wing commanders are authorized to submit one spouse, widow or widower of an Air Force retiree, officer or enlisted, to the Air Force Retiree Council Co-Chairmen for consideration. The nomination must be made by letter with the individual’s name and a resume or biography.
An Air Force retiree or family member who wishes to volunteer to serve as a member-at-large on the Air Force Retiree Council must submit their request to the commander of the nearest Air Force installation. The request must be accompanied by a resume, containing the person's name and retired grade, if applicable, as well as highlights of the person's service and volunteer career, employment and other activities, reasons for wanting to serve as a member-at-large and a description of what the person would like to accomplish as a member-at-large. If the commander endorses the request, the commander will forward it to AFPC Retiree Services. The Co-Chairmen will review all nominations and select the new Council member-at-large. The family member applicant must have a valid military ID card.
“The council is seeking representatives from family members because they are a large population of who accesses benefits,” Wigley said. “This will give spouses and widows the opportunity to have a voice and unique challenges that affect them.”
Nominations are due to AFPC no later than February 10.
