Sergeant First Class Michael D. McPhail is an international rifle shooter with the U.S. Army Marksmanship Unit, Fort Benning, Georgia, has distinguished himself through his many accomplishments.
A native of Darlington, Wisconsin, McPhail graduated from Darlington High School in 2000 and furthered his education at the University of Wisconsin at Oshkosh.
McPhail enlisted in the Army Aug. 16, 2004. After he completed Basic and Infantry Training at Fort Benning, he was assigned to the U.S. Army Marksmanship Unit Jan. 3, 2005.
McPhail attended Basic Training and Infantry Training, Fort Benning, Ga., (2004); and Warrior Leader Course, Fort Benning, Ga., (2007), Advanced Leader Course, Fort Benning, Ga., (2011).
McPhail’s awards include the Meritorious Service Medal, Army Achievement Medal, Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, International Distinguished Badge, Sharpshooter Rifle Badge, Sharpshooter Grenade Badge and Accessions Support Brigade Soldier of the Quarter for the fourth quarter of FY 06 and third quarter FY 08 and second quarter FY 14.
McPhail, who started shooting in 1996 and was a member of his college team, has numerous shooting accomplishments.
