Sailors Visit Bikoen Orphanage for Easter Egg Hunt

The team of Sailors brought with them hundreds of candy-filled plastic eggs to hide for the children. Many of the children had not participated in this type of tradition, but we’re eager to get hunting.

“After the explanation to the children you could see their faces light up and they were eager to get hunting,” said Chief Yeoman Eric Pickett. “This was an all-around great event and I am glad it was well planned out and such a success for these kids.”

The event began with quick re-introductions to the Sailors, followed by the Easter egg hunt and a game of soccer. After all of the activities the children and Sailors sat down to a picnic style lunch.

This is NAF Misawa’s third scheduled visit to the Bikoen Orphange in the past year. The trips tend to correlate with a certain holiday theme.

“This trip is all about bringing joy to these children,” said Electronics Technician 2nd Class Luis Arguello. “Each time we come to the orphanage the response from the kids is better and better. I believe that the Sailors from NAF Misawa are really making a difference here.”
