FORWARD OPERATING BASE ISKAN, Iraq – Coalition forces met with the new Musayyib Iraqi police chief May 6 at the Mussayib IP station, south of Baghdad.
Sergeant First Class Levares Jackson, 1st Platoon sergeant, and 1st Lt. Zachery Boes, 1st Platoon leader, both with Company C, 3rd Battalion, 7th Infantry Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team, 3rd Infantry Division, met with Maj. Ahmed to discuss issues and immediate changes.
Boes said Ahmed, who worked in Iskandariyah before taking charge in Masayyib, seemed motivated and happy with the new assignment.
"There can always be positives when new eyes are brought in to a situation," Boes said. "Things that other leaders did not see as problems or shortcomings with security will be improved upon."
Ahmed has placed his IP at different checkpoints from where they were previously working, to deter complacency.
He said he is working to get more armored vests to supply each of his policemen. He also emphasized his dedication to improving checkpoints, and making sure his policemen do what's expected of them.
Ahmed said he would like to increase the number of joint patrols conducted, as well as increase training between coalition forces and IPs.
