    119th Wing Commander to Participate in Economic Impact Press Conference

    FARGO, N.D. - The North Dakota National Guard's Fargo-based 119th Wing, known as the Happy Hooligans, has a long history of supporting and defending our state and nation. Beyond supporting military operations and ensuring the wellbeing of American citizens, the unit also has plays a positive role in impacting the local community. On Thursday, Col. Kent Olson, commander of the 119th Wing, will attend and participate in a press conference meant to share more information about the significant economic impact his unit and its members have on the region.

    The press conference, scheduled for 10 a.m. Friday, March 11 at the Hjemkomst Center, in Moorhead, Minnesota, is being hosted by the Fargo Moorhead West Fargo Chamber of Commerce. The media is invited to learn more about the economic impact study that was commissioned by the chamber and completed by researchers at North Dakota State University. Dean A. Bangsund, an economist and research scientist at NDSU, will be on hand to share and discuss the results of that study.

    "The 119th Wing is made up of highly trained and professional Airmen," said Olson. "We provide vital intelligence, security and more, for missions at home and abroad. But our impact on the region goes beyond military service and proficiency. We genuinely care about families, local businesses and the safety and growth of our community. We're proud of our role in the community, we're grateful for the support of local leaders and citizens, and we're glad that our presence positively impacts the local economy."

    The 119th Wing and the North Dakota National Guard would like to invite members of the media to attend the Chamber's news conference and learn more about the Air Guard's economic impact.
