MARINE CORPS BASE CAMP LEJEUNE, N.C. - Marine Corps Community Services will host its 3rd annual Warehouse Supply Auction open to the public, at 1108 Birch St. on Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune Friday.
The first auction started in 2013, but previously MCCS held a yard sale to clear excess inventory, and to continue to serve Marines and sailors.
"By having the auction we’re recycling funds back into MCCS program support rather than turn items into (Defense Reutilization and Marketing Office)," said Zina Dupuis, MCCS property and supply warehouse manager.
Bidders can expect to see everything from appliances and tools to furniture and recreation items at the auction.
The day prior to the event, prospective attendees can register and receive their bidder numbers in addition to previewing the items available, at the warehouse.
"People love getting a good deal and like the excitement of bidding against each other for certain items," said Zina Dupuis, MCCS property and supply warehouse manager. "I enjoy seeing everyone that attends having a good time. Most everyone that leaves is excited that they got the best deal."
MCCS provides Marines, sailors and their families with various outlets and programs to maintain mission readiness and provide positive extracurricular activities.
The auction serves as an opportunity to reduce waste and provide patrons with a chance to save money.
