U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Omaha District

OMAHA, Neb. - Project managers took time out of their busy schedules to take the civilian recruiting message to universities and colleges throughout Colorado, North and South Dakota, Iowa and the district state of Nebraska.

“It was a great event and I spoke with a lot of sharp students,” said Robert Giles, chief, Contract Resources Section Rocky Mountain Area office.

He and Doug Foster, project engineer at Fort Carson Resident Office took the Omaha District message to this very popular spring career fair at the Colorado School of Mines in Golden, Colorado, on Feb. 9, not only pitching available job openings in the Colorado area, but educating students on the many opportunities within the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, and in particular at the Omaha District.

Currently there are electrical engineer openings and a host of Pathways Internships for Student Trainees in Engineering and even office automation. The design branch at the Omaha District has a couple pathways internships in engineering, along with Pickstown, South Dakota, and even Fort Peck, Montana.

Throughout the fall and spring career fairs, district team members have attended universities and colleges from Colorado through Nebraska and Iowa to North and South Dakota recruiting for students interested in employment as a civilian with the Corps.

According to Nicole Walls, equal employment officer, Omaha District, the number one question asked by students at the career fairs is do I have to join the Army? And, of course, the answer is no.

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is long in military history, but the workforce is Civilians with a Mission.

To all students, interns and those looking for an opportunity to jumpstart your career, or just to continue it, be sure to check out www.usajobs.gov. A couple samples of upcoming positions are included in this outreach.
