KUWAIT -- The Eagle Lake 4-H Club took the time to send care packages to the 682d Engineer Battalion Headquarters and Headquarters Company (HHC) which is deployed to Kuwait. The 682d is based out of Willmar, Minnesota and has recently deployed for Operation Spartan Shield. The fact that the 4-H Club took the time to do something so special for the troops is truly appreciated and serves as a reminder that we have an amazing country that supports its Soldiers.
After Staff Sgt. Kevin Badheartbull opened one of his boxes he stated, “It is like a little mini Christmas when we open our box and see the cool things. It’s nice to know someone is thinking about us while we are gone for the holidays.” He has stashed many of the goodies in his desk drawer to help him get through the day.
When the Unit originally received 12 boxes all addressed to Master Sgt. Timothy Wettstein, many soldiers were jealous that he was getting such a large amount of mail so early on in this deployment. The packages were distributed by Master Sgt. Wettstein to the Soldiers and immediately boosted the morale. Addressing the Eagle Lake 4-H members directly, “Thank you for letting us know you care and know that it does help each and every Soldier here to reinforce their individual purpose as to why we are here,” said Master Sgt. Wettstein as he was passing out treats to Soldiers.
