CAMP LEJEUNE, N.C.- Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune and Marine Corps Air Station New River will be implementing an enterprise solution for access control called RAPIDGate for non-military persons or an organizations such as a vendor, a contractor, a sub-contractor or a service provider who routinely conducts business aboard the base beginning Feb. 23.
Enrollment will provide streamlined vetting onto the installation for the duration of your contract for up to one year. Those who do not wish to participate in the program will be issued a one-time 30-day pass followed by a subsequent requirement to renew the pass every four days at the Installation Contractor Vetting Office, potentially impacting businesses and their personnel with longer waits.
Policy letters from the commanding officers and RAPIDGate informing current businesses of this change are being mailed within the week.
Base leaders and RAPIDGate personnel held a meeting at the Base Theater Feb. 18 to explain the program and help facilitate implementation.
"As with any new policy change, there will inevitably be questions," said Marc Farr, Deputy Police Chief with the Provost Marshal’s Office. "We want to ensure businesses get them addressed and learn more about the program, the costs and the important timelines they need to be aware of."
RAPIDGate is planning to begin RAPIDGate registration both onsite and offsite on Nov. 23. While current contractor credentials will not expire until Feb. 22 of next year, Farr advises businesses not to wait until the last minute to enroll.
"To ensure timely and seamless vetting without interruption, the time to act is now."
