    Questions and answers

Q: How long have you been doing your job?

A: I have been in my job for just over three months.

    Q: What are your goals?

A: In the next few years, I would like to go to the Army Leadership Course and get promoted to staff sergeant. I hope to extend my stay in Europe to expand my financial experience in this theater. Eventually, I hope to retire from the Army as at least a master sergeant.

    Q: What are your hobbies?

A: My hobbies include traveling, trying new things, trying new food, seeing new places, taking Outdoor Recreation trips and watching sports.

Q: What do you like most about the Army?

A: What I like most about the Army is that the Army encourages Soldiers to develop themselves and to explore their full potential. The education benefits are also much appreciated.

Q: What would you change about the military service life?

A: I would like it if there were additional training opportunities for Combat Service Support Military Occupational Specialties. With low density MOSs, it is very challenging to maximize training benefits when trying to balance training with daily office hours.

    Q: Describe your military career.

A: I enlisted when I was 23 and completed Basic Training and Advanced Individual Training at Fort Jackson in 2011. My first unit was the 101st Financial Management Company located at Fort Campbell where I worked in processing. In 2013, I deployed with my unit to Qatar for nine months where I worked in the Commercial Vendor Services cell. After deployment, I worked in customer service until I moved to Vicenza, Italy, in June, 2015. I also attended the Warrior Leader Course in 2013 at Fort Campbell.

Q: What do you like most about being stationed in Europe?

A: What I like most about being stationed in Europe is being able to visit new countries and experience new cultures.

Q: What are you most proud of?

A: I am proud to be a U.S. Army Soldier. I am serving a country that I was not born into, but that I have accepted as my country of citizenship. The U.S .Army has empowered me to seek out my full potential and has given me a career and numerous opportunities that cannot be found anywhere else in the civilian job sector.

Q: If you were stranded on a deserted island, what three things would you want with you (not survival gear, but things with personal meaning)?

A: I would bring an American Flag, the first coin I got from AIT and the puzzle picture that I completed with my girlfriend.

Q: Name someone who has influenced or inspired you during your military career (could be a leader, mentor, peer or subordinate) and explain why.

A: Sgt. Valoaga inspired and influenced me while at Fort Campbell. Valoaga’s professionalism and dedication to his military role and his job was beyond comparison. Valoaga displayed a remarkable, high level of care and compassion for his Soldiers. I consider myself to be lucky to have had the opportunity to work with Valoaga.

Q: If you could meet one individual, alive or dead, who would it be and why?

A: The one person I would like to meet would be Jesus Christ. I know that Jesus is an actual historical figure, however, since I am an atheist, I would really like to see what kind of person Jesus really was as an ordinary person.
