    3rd Combat Aviation Brigade

HUNTER ARMY AIRFIELD, Ga. – The 3rd Combat Aviation Brigade hosted the 3rd Infantry Division quarterly noncommissioned officer professional development training at Hunter Army Airfield October 22.

Command Sgt. Maj. George M. Dove, command sergeant major, 3rd CAB said he got a lot of positive feedback about the training which began early in the morning with physical training.

“Even with 1st Brigade [Combat Team] being deployed, we had 29 sergeants major that showed up for PT first thing in the morning,” Dove said.
Dove said the training covered everything the CAB does from air assault operations to MEDEVAC, to reconnaissance and security.

Command Sgt. Maj. Michael J. Arceneaux, command sergeant major, 3rd Squadron, 17th Cavalry Regiment said one highlight for him was PT with all of the sergeants major.

“I absolutely enjoyed PT, especially getting the old guys out there doing functional PT. It was an awesome experience,” Arceneaux said. “It was a really good team building event.”

PT was followed by classes on air to ground operations and aviation maintenance at the Hunter Theater later that morning.

Dove said the goal of the training was to develop the shared understanding between the aviation brigade and the BCT’s and develop a mutual trust between them.

Sgt. 1st Class Jon Wisman, brigade aviation maintenance noncommissioned officer in charge, 3rd CAB, gave a class on aviation maintenance at the NCOPD.

“We gave them a very quick class that helps them to understand and levy expectations when it comes to aircraft availability due to the maintenance cycle of our aircraft,” Wisman said. “I think overall it went very well.”

Arceneaux said it was good to see the sergeants major picking up on the information being delivered. With a better understanding of the maintenance cycle the aviation brigade can better serve the BCT’s it supports.
