    Story by Sgt. Jesse Smith

    2nd Combat Aviation Brigade

CAMP HUMPREYS, South Korea – On a basketball court inside of a gym there were three squares marked off and labeled A,B or C. A group of Soldiers were in formation behind the squares. They were waiting to hear a question about the Army’s Sexual Harassment and Assault Response Program. Once the question was asked they all rushed to the square which had the correct answer.

The Soldiers were from the 194th Combat Sustainment Support Battalion, 2nd Infantry Division. They participated in an organized unit SHARP training event October 23 at the Zoekler Gym on Camp Humphreys, South Korea. The event consisted of a trivia game called 1 vs. 100 and five skits about different situations that could lead to a SHARP incident.

Spc. Patrice Cross, an ammunition specialist from the 194th CSSB, was one of the Soldiers who participated.

“Today, we learned about different aspects of SHARP,” Cross said. “We also learned different ways to prevent an incident from happening.”

The training started off with a brief discussion about SHARP and then the Soldiers were broken down into large groups and told to either stay inside or to head outside. The Soldiers who stayed inside were to play the trivia game first and the ones who went outside got to see the skits first. Once the groups were done with one part, they could move on to the next.

“It was very interesting,” Cross said. “It really makes you want to come back and do this training again compared to sitting in front of a PowerPoint.”

The skits varied in situation and place to include the club and the barracks.

“It was interactive and not as boring,” Cross said. “It made the information easier to remember.”

This training really helps Soldiers know the signs and how to prevent bad situations. Cross said she thinks they should definitely do this training again. Hopefully now after this training every Soldier will have the correct answer when it comes to SHARP.
