COLUMBUS, Ohio - About 160 Soldiers from the Ohio Army National Guard’s 1194th Engineer Company, located in Chillicothe, Ohio, are deploying in support of Operation Freedom’s Sentinel.

The public is invited to the Soldiers’ call to duty ceremony at 10 a.m. Monday, Oct. 12, 2015, at the Shoemaker Center on the Ohio University-Chillicothe campus, 101 University Drive, Chillicothe, Ohio, 45601.

The unit's mission overseas will be to conduct vertical engineering operations. The 1194th is comprised of technically skilled laborers including plumbers/pipe fitters, interior electricians and concrete/masonry experts.
The Soldiers will train at Fort Bliss, Texas, before deploying to their designated assignment location in Kuwait.

The unit previously deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom in 2003-2005. While deployed, the 1194th executed both horizontal and vertical projects for U.S. and allied units, and oversaw construction projects to accommodate a troop surge that more than doubled post capacity.
