Airmen assigned to the Air National Guard Readiness Center here gathered to officially kick off the annual Combined Federal Campaign here Oct 6.

CFC is the world’s largest annual workplace charity initiative, with almost 200 CFC campaigns throughout the country and overseas raising millions of dollars through voluntary payroll deductions.

"Our goal in this organization is to give an opportunity to contribute, but it’s not about a dollar amount," said Brig. Gen. Michael R. Taheri, commander of the ANGRC. “How much money we raise is unimportant. This is an opportunity to for people to do what they can do to make a difference in the lives of others.”

Taheri personalized the importance of the CFC season and discussed how the opportunity to participate can positively affect the lives of those less fortunate.

“Everybody has something pretty significant going on in their lives,” said Taheri. “In some way, shape, or form there is someone touched by something that means a lot to them. I think that [contributing to the CFC] presents an opportunity to help someone.”

The mission of the CFC is to promote and support philanthropy through a program that is employee focused, cost-efficient, and effective in providing all federal employees the opportunity to improve the quality of life for all.

Pledges made by Federal civilian, postal and military donors during the campaign season support eligible non-profit organizations that provide health and human service benefits throughout the world.
