    3rd Combat Aviation Brigade

HUNTER ARMY AIRFIELD, Ga. – The 2nd Battalion, 3rd Aviation Regiment, 3rd Combat Aviation Brigade held a change of command ceremony on Hunter Army Airfield Oct. 1.

The Nighthawk battalion openly welcomed Lt. Col. Jason L. West as the new commanding officer and bid farewell to Lt. Col. Jason E. Roncoroni.

Col. John D. Kline, commander, 3rd CAB, spoke about the relationship he has had with the Roncoroni family over his career.

“Jason and Jill I cannot thank you enough for the leadership you have provided and the friendship we have shared over the past decade,” Kline said. “You should leave here immensely proud of what you have accomplished with the Nighthawk battalion.”

Roncoroni is retiring after 21 years of service in the Army.
“As I depart your ranks I will impart to you one of the most valuable lessons that I learned. Leadership is not a rank, duty position or title, leadership is a moment,” Roncoroni said. “And these moments happen at a time not of your choosing. Be vigilant, prepare every day to answer the challenge of that moment.”

The new commander thanked the crowd for attending and gave a few brief comments.

“Soldiers, family and friends of the 2nd Bn., 3rd Aviation Reg. it is a distinct honor and privilege for me to be afforded this opportunity to command,” West said. “Nighthawk 06 is on the net.”
