HORSHAM AIR GUARD STATION, Pa. – Lt. Col. Scott Coradi assumed command of the 111th Medical Group here in a ceremony Oct. 3, 2015, during the month’s scheduled unit training assembly.
The colonel's previous assignment was at the193rd Special Operations Group, Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. In that position, he was a member of the chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear enhanced response force package. He served as the unit’s emergency medical provider.
“This is a humbling experience for me,” said Coradi in his first address as group commander. “I’m excited for my next responsibility. Thank you for having confidence in me to take the medical group to the next level.”
Coradi replaces Lt. Col. John Quinn, who bids farewell to the Wing and plans to soon return solely to his civilian responsibilities. Quinn, who began his career in the Army in 1988, was commander of the 111th Attack Wing’s medical group since 2009.
Col. Howard Eissler, 111th ATKW commander here, officiated the change of command ceremony.
"There are a lot of commonalities between these two," said Eissler when addressing the audience composed of military and civilian family. "[Quinn] left a great place for [Coradi]; we’re really looking forward to the next couple of years."
Coradi had previous assignments with the 111th ATKW. Beginning his career as an enlisted firefighter, he eventually joined the medical group. While with the medical group here and then with the New Jersey Air National Guard’s 177th Medical Group, Egg Harbor, New Jersey, Coradi became a doctor of osteopathic medicine.
He returns to the 111th ATKW after beginning his military career nearly 27 years ago.
After thanking Quinn for more than 17 years of mentorship, Coradi closed his address to the group.
“I’m going to ask a lot of you,” he said. “And you can expect a lot from me in return.”
