BERRY FIELD AIR NATIONAL GUARD BASE, Nashville, Tenn. - The 118th Wing welcomed a new commander during a ceremony at Berry Field Air National Guard hangar.

Col. Keith A. Allbritten, vice commander of the 118th Wing, assumed command of the wing from Col. Thomas “Chuck” Echols, who is retiring from the Air National Guard.

“Command is an honor afforded few officers during their career,” said Allbritten. “We should always remember the commander is entrusted with the nation’s treasure, sons and daughters, husbands and wives, and I don’t take that responsibility lightly.”

llbritten has been vice commander of the 118th since April 2012. He has previously served at the squadron command
    and deputy group command levels.

Immediately following the change of command ceremony, Echols retired from the Air Guard after 31 years of service in the Air Force.

“To all the Airmen in the 118th, we have such a rich history, we should always look to the past for lessons learned,” said Echols. “But never accept any limitations in moving forward and doing your best.”

Echols had commanded the 118th Wing since October 2012.
