‘Mustangs’ host Army G-4’s Corporate Information Office director

SCHOFIELD BARRACKS, Hawaii - Officers and warrant officers of the 325th Brigade Sustainment Battalion, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, hosted the director of the Army G-4’s Corporate Information Office, Alexander B. Raulerson, at a conference, here, Sept. 18.

The 325th BSB held an hourlong informative briefing for Raulerson about their Global Combat Support System-Army Wave 2 conversion inside the open bay of their motorpool.
According the GCSS-Army website, the conversion process is to integrate existing legacy Standard Army Management Information Systems and various related programs into one seamless package.

Raulerson’s own weeklong inspection on Oahu was to get a basic understanding of how the GCSS-A conversion was happening with the Army for Lt. Gen. Gustave F. Perna, deputy chief of staff, G-4 (Army Logistics).

“My purpose here today on behalf of Gen. Perna was to share the value of GCSS-Army,” Raulerson said. “As well as have a discussion with where the 325 BSB is today in their conversion process and to get some user feedback on how the department and all of the support elements can help here.”

The 325th BSB not only explained the status of the conversion process but held a frank discussion with Raulerson and Chief Warrant Officer 4 Timothy D. Lowe, liaison officer, GCSS-Army, Office of the Deputy Chief of Staff, G-4, from Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Washington.

Both Raulerson and Lowe asked pointed questions about how the conversion status was happening not only at the brigade level but on the company level too.

The lead for conversion for U.S. Army, Pacific (USARPAC), Chief Warrant Officer 3 Johnny Scroggins with the 8th Theater Sustainment Command from Fort Shafter, was present during the discussion.

“Clear lines are getting established as the process goes on,” said Scroggins. “Situational awareness is there and they ultimately know the importance of this system being put in place.”

Chief Warrant Officer 2 William Larson, unit maintenance tech, Higher Headquarters Company, 325th BSB, sat through the conference with a greater understanding of the big picture.

Larson said, he found information provided as very beneficial and helped him succeed on the GCSS-A conversion.

At the end of briefing Raulerson left satisfied with what he hand heard and seen from the 325th BSB.

“I think the brigade is on track in regards of what they need to do,” he said. “They’re being tough on how they need to monitor themselves. They recognize there’s a lot of work out there but I think they’re getting after it. That’s what I’m walking away with.”
