SCHOFIELD BARRACKS, Hawaii - Three medical Soldiers were recognized for their hard work and dedication at the medical clinic, here, Sept. 10.
Spc. Kristen Balanza, Capt. Mandi Breyman and Spc. Christopher Rodriguez, 29th Brigade Engineer Battalion, 3rd Bde. Combat Team, 25th Infantry Division, were recognized at the brigade’s Soldier Centered Medical Home for scoring 100 percent in a patient satisfaction survey.
Breyman, a physician assistant, explained how such outstanding results were achieved.
“I think, the big part of why I have an excellent satisfaction is the implementation we had of RelayHealth,” Breyman said. “I think the fact that we had 100 percent enrollment in RelayHealth helped with another avenue for not just myself, but medics, to answer questions for Soldiers when they have appointments.”
RelayHealth’s electronic records system is designed to improve care coordination between home care providers and hospitals, making it easier for Soldiers to track their care.
Balanza and Rodriguez, both medics, were vital in making patient care and satisfaction possible for the medical team, Breyman said.
“They are the ones who answer Relay Health,” she said.
“They check it every morning, afternoon and evening. They answer the Soldiers right away. We might not be able to see them right away, but I think just having that response and discussion with the patient gives them better care for it.”
“Breyman has been the top provider in the division by multiple means. They have outscored the Army-level provider satisfaction survey,” said Lt. Col. Duane Hennion, surgeon, 25th ID. “Basically, their patient satisfaction has been 100 percent for six months. No one else has matched that.”
Rodriguez expressed gratitude for the recognition he received.
“It’s a great honor,” he said. “It definitely reinforces the proper work performance to do the right thing. I want to thank everyone who trained me.”
“It’s easier to be more physically courageous when you know the person on your left and right knows how to take care of you, “ said Maj. Gen. Charles Flynn, commander, 25th ID, to the three. “Beyond that, they know the system is in place to take care of you. That’s why you exist.”
