    20th CBRNE Command

ABERDEEN PROVING GROUND, Md. - The commanding general of the 20th CBRNE Command (Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear, Explosives) marked the 14th anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks.

Brig. Gen. William E. King IV, the leader of the Defense Department's only multifunctional formation that combats global CBRNE threats, called on his Soldiers and civilians to remember the great sacrifices that have been made since that day.

"Today is a day of service and remembrance," said King. "Let us honor those who paid the ultimate sacrifice answering the nation's call during the past 14 years."

In response to the 9/11 terrorist attacks, the 20th CBRNE Command was activated by U.S. Army Forces Command to consolidate the U.S. Army's CBRNE forces under one command.

Headquartered in Maryland's science, technology and security corridor on the Aberdeen Proving Ground, the command is home to 85 percent of the Active U.S. Army's CBRNE capabilities, with two EOD Groups, one CBRN Brigade and several special purpose capabilities. Soldiers and civilians from 20th CBRNE Command work with joint, interagency and allied partners to combat the world's most dangerous weapons.
