HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (Sept. 8, 2015) -- Registration is open for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Engineering and Support Center, Huntsville’s annual Small Business Forum scheduled for Oct. 14, 2015, at the Jackson Center in Huntsville.

“We are really proud of our work with small businesses and this forum is a great opportunity for small businesses to learn about our opportunities in the coming year and talk one-on-one with our contracting officers and program managers,” said Huntsville Center Commander Col. Robert J. Ruch. In 2014 Huntsville Center exceeded its 36 percent small business goal by 7 percent and met the Service Disabled-Veteran Owned Small Business goal for the first time, achieving 3 percent against a goal of 2.5 percent. This past year Huntsville Center made the largest-ever federal award to a Service Disabled-Veteran Owned Small Business set-aside contract. Of the $1.8 billion eligible for award to small business concerns in 2014, Huntsville Center awarded more than $782 million.

The forum, which starts at 9 a.m., is also an excellent networking opportunity, according to Rebecca J. Goodsell, Huntsville Center’s Small Business Office chief, because many larger businesses looking for small business subcontractors are also in attendance. In addition, many small business firms with similar interests meet at the event and often team together to go after some of the Center’s larger procurements.

Registration for the free forum will close Oct. 1. Business representatives are encouraged to register as soon as possible to ensure relevant subject matter experts and program managers are available during the event. Event registration information and details are available at www.hnc.usace.army.mil/BusinessWithUs/SmallBusiness.aspx. Email sbo-hnc@usace.army.mil with questions or comments.

Center contracting forecasts, updated monthly, are available at www.hnc.usace.army.mil/BusinessWithUs/Contracting.aspx.
