CAMP ARIFJAN, Kuwait – The 975th Movement Control Team honored 13 members of the 386th Expeditionary Logistics Readiness Squadron for their hard work and flexibility at Ali Al Salem Air Base July 27. Airmen were awarded Army Achievement Medals for professionalism and dedication in the execution of their duties with shipping Army Cargo.

U.S. Army Lt. Col. Keith Barta, 419th Battalion commander, presented the awards to load planners, hazardous material certifiers, machine operators, and leaders.

“I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for supporting the 975th MCT throughout your time here,” said Barta.

Soldiers were recognized for having shown a magnitude of support to the 975th MCT throughout their time at Ali Al Salem. The airmen have instructed the MCT on processing cargo, operating forklifts, certifying HAZMAT and building pallets.

“Your hard work and dedication is a credit to not only the Air Force but to the Army as well,” said Barta.

The Army and Air Force have been working hand in hand to ensure outposts in Iraq are being resupplied with life-sustaining and mission required equipment.

“The efforts of the aerial port have been critical to the MCT's success,” said U.S. Army Capt. Daniel Storer.

The aerial port ships hundreds of pieces of cargo throughout the world. Some shipments head straight north to troops supporting the Iraqi Army and as far west as Venezuela.

The Air Force separated from the Army in 1947 under the National Security Act of 1947 making it one of the newest branches in the military. Their mission is to fly, fight and win in air, space and cyberspace with the central focus on air superiority.
