    II Marine Expeditionary Force

HINESVILLE, CAMP OLIVER, Ga. - Marines with Truck Company and Communication Co. both part of Headquarters Battalion, 2nd Marine Division, unloaded and began to set up equipment they will be utilizing during a Deployment for Training exercise in conjunction with the latest iteration of the Marine Prepositioning Force Exercise Aug. 10-Sept. 9, 2015.

The Marines will have one week to increase their combat proficiency with convoy and Military Operations on Urban Terrain exercises, all while utilizing prepositioned equipment and gear from embarked forces.

“By living in the field and conducting this exercise, it will give our Marines the opportunity to execute their military occupational specialties to a degree where they will be confident enough to perform well in real life scenarios,” said Capt. Johnathan Eisele, Truck Co. executive officer.

This DFT will be a first for many of the junior Marines with the two units. It will give these Marines a chance to witness Marine Corps operations with an inside look of how a real world scenario could be.

“We came down here to kind of flex our muscles a little bit, to see what we can do as a unit when it comes to performing these kinds of operations,” Eisele said. “We will see what we are capable of, whether it is with the machine gun ranges or the convoy operations. The Marines at the end of the day will learn more about what they are meant to do.”

According to Sgt. Keith Knight, a field radio operator with Comm. Co., the exercise will be a way for the two units to come together and be able to work with one another to maintain combat readiness and achieve the mission goals.

“I expect my Marines to work well with Truck Co.,” Knight said. “They will provide the wheels and we will provide the communication between all the platoons. The convoy operations and live-fire convoy range will be a test to see how well they progress by the end of the week.”

Communication Co. set up radio communications for the entire exercise allowing the different platoons to maintain communication aiding in their mission accomplishment.

“I am confident that our Marines are up for the task. They will complete their missions this week and we can all go home more prepared for real world scenarios,” Eisele said.
