JOINT BASE MCGUIRE-DIX-LAKEHURST, N.J. – The Army Reserve added a new general officer to its ranks following a promotion ceremony Aug. 6 at the Army Reserve Mobilization Museum here.

Col. (P) Jeffrey A. Doll, former commander of Army Support Activity-Dix, was promoted to brigadier general by Maj. Gen. Margaret W. Boor, commanding general of the Army Reserve’s 99th Regional Support Command.

“We have one of our own who has been recognized for the hard work and Warrior Ethos that he has demonstrated over many years,” Boor said. “He’s the type of officer we need as a senior leader.”

The Army Reserve’s ability to recognize, leverage, and promote the leadership skills of its Soldiers, gained from their military experience and from the private and public sectors, adds value to the Army and the nation.

For his first role as a general officer, Doll has been selected to serve as commanding general of the Army Reserve Sustainment Command in Birmingham, Alabama.

“Today, I am deeply humbled and honored as few officers begin their career in the Army thinking a day like today will ever happen,” Doll said.

Doll began his Army career in 1987 as an Air Defense Artillery officer after graduating from the North Dakota Military Academy Officer Candidate School.

“It was through opportunity, guidance, leadership, mentorship and the friendship of others that allows me to stand here today,” Doll said.

After branch transferring to the Logistics Corps in 1992, Doll held many positions to include commander of the 299th Quartermaster Company. From 2001-2002, he served as the S4 logistics officer with 3rd Brigade, 104th Division and deployed as deputy commander of support with the Allied Military Intelligence Battalion in Sarajevo, Bosnia, in support of Operation Stabilization Force.

In 2004, he deployed again as commander of the 394th Quartermaster Battalion and executive officer of the Area Support Group at Camp Doha, Kuwait, in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.

He deployed once more to Afghanistan in 2008 as senior logistics trainer in support of Operation Enduring Freedom, and served as Victory Base Camp mayor at Camp Victory, Iraq, through 2009.

“What I have done over the last 33 years remains the basis by which I will continue to serve this great institution that is our Army,” Doll said.

Doll’s military education includes the Air Defense Artillery Officer Basic and Advanced Courses, the Quartermaster Officer Advanced course, Combined Arms and Service Staff School, the Command and General Staff College, the Army Logistics Management College, Logistics Executive Development Course, Joint Course in Logistics and the U.S. Army War College.

His Awards include the Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal (4 awards), the Joint Services Commendation Medal, the Army Commendation Medal (5 awards), the Army Achievement Medal, the Meritorious Unit Commendation (2 awards) as well as many other campaign and service medals.

Doll holds a Master of Strategic Studies degree from the U.S. Army War College, a Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Southern California, a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science from the University of North Dakota and an Associate’s Degree from Bismarck State College.
