According to Maj. Nathaniel Baker, the operations officer with the squadron, more than 180 Marines participated in the deployment.
Marines traveled to South Korea, Japan, and Alaska during the deployment in support of operations such as Northern Edge and Exercise Max Thunder.
“We conducted a lot of great training while on the deployment,” said Baker. “The Marines were given hands-on proficiency training while interacting with other units and nations.”
According to Baker, the deployment was an extreme success and the Marines were happy to train in Iwakuni.
The Marines were reunited with their families at Cherry Point during multiple homecoming ceremonies between Aug. 6-9.
