JOINT BASE MCGUIRE-DIX-LAKEHURST, N.J. – The Army Reserve’s 99th Regional Support Command held a “Dauntless Day” Aug. 7 at the Maj. John P. Pryor Army Reserve Center here.
The event enabled 99th RSC Soldiers and Civilian employees to learn more about the unit’s past as the 99th Infantry Division, it’s present as one of four RSCs located throughout the nation, and its future as the provider of choice for virtual and direct, cost-effective solutions for installation services and readiness support to commanders, Soldiers, civilians and families.
“Every one of us is part of the 99th whether you are in a band, a public affairs unit, a civilian employee, a contractor, the HHC (Headquarters and Headquarters Company), or you come from an AMSA (Area Maintenance Support Activity), an ECS (Equipment Concentration Site) or an RPAC (Regional Personnel Action Center),” said Maj. Gen. Margaret W. Boor, commanding general, 99th RSC.
The day kicked off with an informational scavenger hunt at the unit’s headquarters and the base's Army Reserve Mobilization Museum. Dozens of 99th RSC members separated into groups that rotated through several locations to learn more about the 99th RSC’s history and capabilities.
“We as an organization cannot predict with any certainty what the future or our Army Reserve is going to be, nor can we predict with any certainty what the future of our RSC will be, but regardless we have to prepare for what will likely lie ahead of us,” Boor said.
The scavenger hunt was followed by a town hall meeting highlighted by the unveiling of the 99th's new strategic plan and motto, “99th RSC - Your Dauntless Partner in Readiness,” which incorporates the 99th ID's call sign, “Dauntless!”
“The only reason why we exist is so we can facilitate unit commanders,” Boor said. “We’ve got to free them up from a lot of administrative and support tasks so they can focus on the training and readiness of their units so they are prepared for whatever our nation needs them to do.”
The 99th RSC provides facilities, programs and services to Soldiers, civilians and their families in the Northeast Region to support Army readiness, sustain the all-volunteer Total Force, and ensure infrastructure for current and future mission requirements.
