Mobilization and Deployment, DPTMS Fort Bliss

FORT BLISS, Texas - Soldiers assigned to 149th Adjutant General Company Forward, Texas Army National Guard, and U.S. Army Reserve units 271st AG Detachment, 438th Military Police Company and 907th Engineer Detachment (Firefighting Headquarters), deployed July 9 from the Silas L. Copeland Arrival/Departure Air Control Group to a mission in Romania.

The adjutant general Soldiers will conduct postal services for all military personnel assigned in Romania. The 438th MP Co. will provide law and order services along with customs inspections assistance. The 907th Engineer Det. will provide fire rescue services respectively.

“My expectation for the Soldiers is to make the most of this opportunity that they have,” said Capt. Tim Dewitt, commander, 438th MP Company. “[They will] learn to develop as Soldiers and MPs. This deployment will be a great experience for all of them.”

Coming from areas across the U.S., all Soldiers conducted the mobilization process through the Mobilization and Deployment branch of the Directorate of Plans, Training, Mobilization and Security office. Some Soldiers have come through mobilization here before like Staff Sgt. Randy Clark, military policeman, 438th MP Company, who was on his third rotation.

“Every time has always been really good,” Clark said. “They have done really well and the ranges are phenomenal.”

Staff Sgt. Jenifer Zitzke, military policeman, 438th MP Company, mobilized through Fort Dix, New Jersey, before on a previous deployment. This was her first time through Fort Bliss.

“This is hands down, a lot better,” Zitzke said. “I had a small issue with a course I was trying to attend and the cadre bent over backwards to make sure I got into the course. This place is very supportive.”

Zitzke hopes to gain more experience and a promotion while deployed to Romania.

Dewitt express his pride in his Soldiers, mentioning that this rotation has been his best yet.

“This group of Soldiers are probably the closest knit and have the best comradery I have seen,” Dewitt said.
