    A 76-year-old man medevaced from charter fishing vessel off Georgetown coast

    GEORGETOWN, S.C. – The Coast Guard medevaced a 76-year-old man with dangerously low blood pressure 44 miles east of Georgetown, Saturday.

    Watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector Charleston received the initial report from the captain of the Continental Shelf, an 81-foot charter fishing vessel, at approximately 1:30 p.m., stating that a man aboard was experiencing temporarily lapses in consciousness.

    An aircrew aboard an MH-65 Dolphin helicopter from Coast Guard Air Facility Charleston was diverted to assist. Upon arriving on scene, the crew hoisted the man and transported him to Grand Strand Medical Center in Myrtle Beach, S.C.
