    2d Cavalry Regiment

ROSE BARRACKS, Germany – Leadership from 2nd Cavalry Regiment, including Col. John V. Meyer III, the 78th colonel of the regiment, attended the opening ceremony for the 57th German-American Volksfest at the Grafenwoehr Training Area, located near Rose Barracks, Germany, July 31, 2015.

Meant to foster friendship and closeness between Americans and the German populace, the Volksfest, or "people’s fest," displays various sides of both cultures while coming together in a celebration that will include live country music from country singer, Craig Morgan, as well as live '80s pop music, carnival rides and a high wire show that will be presented by Armed Forces Entertainment.

This will be the 57th year of the fest, having started in 1957, while also being the largest community event throughout Grafenwoehr. Starting at 11 a.m. on Friday, July 31, the fest will be open every night until 11:30 p.m. ending Sunday, Aug. 2.
