HULMAN FIELD AIR NATIONAL GUARD BASE, Ind. — The 181st Intelligence Wing and the Terre Haute Fire Department conducted a fire response exercise at the 181st Intelligence Wing ANGB, July 29, 2015.
The alarm sounded at 9 a.m. and soon after members of the 181st IW evacuated the building and assembled at the rally point, where they waited for the on scene commander to take over.
After being escorted by the 181st Security Forces personnel, local fire department showed up on the scene and the training began with Wing members and the THFD personnel.
"During our 181 IW exercise, the local Terre Haute Fire Department did a great job preparing our Wing for a fire response. Since we don't have a firehouse on base, it's great to know we have the support of our community's Fire Fighters," said Col. L. Kip Clark, commander of the 181st Intelligence Wing.
The 181st IW Inspection Team evaluated the response time, obstacles, and existing checklist and procedures.
“The 181 IW conducts exercises like this to ensure the safety and preparedness of our personnel. Also, by writing realistic scenarios, we build relationships with our civilian emergency response personnel in the community,” said 181st IW director of inspections.
