TWENTYNINE PALMS, Calif. - U.S. Naval Mobile Construction Battalion (NMCB) 4 completed construction on four projects at Camp Wilson in Twentynine Palms, Calif., June 26, including two arched steel panel buildings, called K-Spans, and 372 linear feet of four foot high retaining walls.
The collaboration, coordination and collective teamwork among the Seabees of NMCB 4 contributed to completing the one-month mission successfully on time.
“These projects provide an excellent training platform to build skills at many different levels for crew leaders and crew members, as well as an opportunity to increase working relationships between U.S. Marine Corps and U.S. Navy Seabees,” said Builder 1st Class Oscar Barba, project supervisor. “We are proud to be part of this evolution and worked hard to meet our goals despite the intense summer heat.”
Barba also stated that the K-Spans are one phase of a planned 160 K-Spans that will be built for future operations by NMCB’s at Marine Air Ground Combat Center (MAGCC) Camp Wilson in Twentynine Palms.
The completed camp projects will enhance operations and improve mission capabilities and readiness while equipping Seabees with essential training for planned future projects in the U.S. Pacific Command Area of Responsibility (AOR).
