CAMP SHELBY JOINT FORCES TRAINING CENTER, Miss. – Elements within the 155th Armored Brigade Combat Team came together to conduct a deliberate attack drill rehearsal at Camp Shelby Joint Forces Training Center, near Hattiesburg, Mississippi, on July 27, 2015.

Military police, infantrymen, and engineers all played their roll to support the mission. After an obstacle is breached, the engineers mark lanes so the assault force is able to safely navigate through an area to the target, said Staff Sgt. Mark Holden, the platoon sergeant for 1st platoon, Company C, Special Troops Battalion, 155th Armored Brigade Combat Team.

“We’re the breaching force. After we breach it, we mark the lane so that when the tankers and everybody come flying through there as fast as they can go, they know that they’re safe,” said Holden, of Ocean Springs, Mississippi.

The assault forces, which include infantrymen, tankers, and military police, come in after the M2A3 Bradley Fighting Vehicles. When the military police come in, they collect detainees during and after the deliberate attack, said Staff Sgt. Joshua Barnett, with Headquarters Company, Special Troops Battalion, 155th ABCT.

“As the Infantry and armor pushes up and attacks their objective, they’re going to collect prisoners of war and possibly some misplaced civilians if they’re in the area. Our job is to clear them off the battlefield,” said Barnett, a military policeman from Biloxi, Mississippi.

The event is a part of the Exportable Combat Training Capability exercise. The XCTC gives soldiers and units the opportunity to strengthen their individual and combat readiness.

The engineers have been preparing for this for quite some time, said Capt. Matthew Payne, Company C commander.

“I’m really happy about finally getting to the XCTC. We’ve been training up for this for over a year and a half and my guys are excited and morale is high. We’re ready to do what we came here to do,” said Payne.
