BAGRAM AIR FIELD, Afghanistan – Staff Sgt. Travis Luzania, 455th Expeditionary Operations Support Squadron quality assurance evaluator, is responsible for overseeing the contract work done here to ensure all equipment and programs are managed properly at all times.
Upon completion of a job done by a contractor, Luzania goes behind and documents completion and quality of the work and reports it to leadership. He also makes sure all equipment is accounted for.
“I’m here to make sure the contractors are fulling their contract obligations to the Air Force. We make sure they are performing the same quality of work that we would do here in the military,” Luzania said. “I enjoy working with the contractors here; it gives me a different perspective on equipment maintenance. They’ve been doing this for a long time so it’s neat to learn from them.”
Luzania is part of the “1000s of Hands” of 455 AEW Airmen who are crucial to the wing’s mission to generate and sustain airpower on the combat frontier of Afghanistan’s NATO’s Resolute Support mission and Operation Freedom’s Sentinel. The “1000s of Hands” project highlights Vulture Airmen who have a hand in delivering a blanket of steel, technology and courage to protect the force in the field and support Afghan National Defense and Security Forces.
