CAMP BUEHRING, Kuwait – The 185th Theater Aviation Brigade’s unit ministry team became stronger with the addition of Chaplain Maj. John Branning.
Branning started his role as brigade chaplain July 7, 2015 by donning the stole that outgoing chaplain, Capt. Randy Wilson, placed on his shoulders, signifying the passing of spiritual leadership responsibilities from Wilson to Branning.
The passing of the stole is one of the oldest ceremonies for chaplains. Branning accepted the responsibility and is now the leader of the brigade’s unit ministry team.
“My plans are to fulfill my role as the brigade chaplain by observing and mentoring the battalion chaplains that are attached to us,” said Branning.
The main area of focus for Branning and his team will be to provide more coverage to soldiers throughout the unit’s area of operation.
“It is my desire that through the chaplain corps we can help each soldier continue to maintain readiness through our personal interaction and morale building events.”
Although Capt. Wilson will no longer be the lead chaplain for the 185th Theater Aviation Brigade, he still plans on leading religious services and making himself available for anyone who seeks the chaplain’s guidance.
