COLUMBUS, Ohio — The opening ceremony for the 2015 National Rifle and Pistol Matches will take place at 10 a.m. Monday, July 6 at Camp Perry Joint Training Center, 1000 Lawrence Road, Port Clinton, Ohio.
The five-week event brings more than 6,000 national and international civilian and military competitors, volunteers, spectators, vendors and family members to Camp Perry Joint Training Center (CPJTC) each summer.
The opening ceremony will take place at the Friends of Camp Perry Memorial Plaza, where U.S. Rep. Robert Latta, R-Bowling Green, of Ohio’s 5th Congressional District, will provide opening remarks and officially kick off the 2015 National Matches by firing the ceremonial “first shot.”
The First Shot Ceremony and CPJTC are open to the public. In addition to world-class shooting ranges, CPJTC offers a public beach, recently constructed cottages and a state-of-the-art conference center.
The National Matches are hosted each year by the Civilian Marksmanship Program (CMP), assisted through working partnerships with organizations including the Ohio National Guard and National Rifle Association.
