FORT KNOX, Ky. - U.S. Army Human Resources Command received the Army Superior Unit Award, June 3, in a ceremony at its headquarters, the Lt. Gen. Timothy J. Maude Complex, on Fort Knox, Kentucky.

The award is for outstanding meritorious service during Operation Enduring Freedom and the Global War on Terrorism during the period Sept. 1, 2012 to Sept. 1, 2014.

"I am enormously proud of the command and what it has accomplished in a two-year period," said Maj. Gen. Richard P. Mustion, HRC commanding general.

Mustion briefly talked about some of the 21 significant accomplishments of the command during the ceremony.

"HRC undertook the inactivation of seven brigade combat teams and conversion of 12 brigade engineering battalions while analyzing future structure changes," Mustion said.

He credited the diligent oversight of the distribution process and permanent changes of station as allowing HRC to reduce officer and NCO moves, saving the Army $142 million in PCS costs. This new manning method will increase overall unit readiness by reducing excesses and shortages between units on installations while maintaining the Army's Leadership Development strategy.

"We Implemented the Soldier for Life -- Transition Assistance Program it was done with great precision and great clarity for transitioning our Soldiers as they prepare to take off the uniform," said Mustion

SFL-TAP transitions America's warriors from uniformed service to stable, successful roles in civilian society by enabling Soldiers to successfully connect to meaningful employment, with effective healthcare and education support.

Throughout 2014, HRC transitioned to a single Command Management Branch to consolidate management of all Centralized Selection List billets, boards and slating to increase efficiency and foster a collaborative environment. HRC also created a Cyber Branch as a single source point of contact to manage officers, warrant officers and enlisted cyber personnel across the Army.

"In our spare time we implemented a new OER," said Mustion. "It is enormously inspiring to have had the opportunity to watch all that take place. It's a reflection of the 4,000 members of the command, what they do as part of a collective team, focused and committed to the strength of the U.S. Army."

Soldiers assigned to HRC during Sept. 1, 2012 to Sept. 1, 2014 are authorized to wear the Army Superior Unit Award on their uniform throughout their career," said Jerry Mraz, HRC Deputy Chief of Staff, G1/G4.
