INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - On June 8, the commander for the 76th Infantry Brigade Combat Team, Col. Robert Burke, presented the Order of Saint Maurice to Bill Rivera, the Senior Training Adviser, for his dedication to training the brigade staff.
“Always remember the soldier out front,” said Rivera in his acceptance speech.
After 25 years of military service, Rivera had to retire due to medical conditions. Rivera still wanted to serve. In 2002, he was offered the position of Commander’s Operation Training Adviser. In 2011, the title changed under a new contract to Senior Training Adviser.
Rivera is considered an expert in the field of military operations, and training. “I help the brigade and battalions conduct, plan, prepare and execute staff training in accordance with the Army’s operation process.”
Burke presented Rivera the Order of Saint Maurice, an award for serving in the infantry community with distinction.
“I never received this while I was in the infantry,” Rivera said humorously.
