EDINBURGH, Ind. – National Guard soldiers from seven states will compete the Army National Guard 2015 Region IV Best Warrior Competition at Camp Atterbury-Muscatuck, May 11-15.

After their own rigorous state competitions, Iowa, Ill., Ind., Mich., Minn., Ohio and Wis. will send their top soldier and their top non-commissioned officer to compete to find the region's best warriors for advancement to the national competition.

“This regional BWC gives our soldiers the opportunity to compete against other states in region four and then compete at the national level (NGB) in Utah,” said Command Sgt. Maj. James Gordon, the top enlisted non-commissioned officer for the Indiana National Guard. “Indiana has a Great NCO and Soldier competing and I have great confidence that Indiana will be very competitive in this year's Best Warrior Competition.

The competition will challenge competitors in several events including the Army physical fitness test; M-9 and M-4 qualification; a shoot house exercise; land navigation; the confidence course; a 12-mile road march; a written exam; and mystery events.

“This is another opportunity to show Indiana and the great training facilities to the other 6 states in our region,” said Gordon.
