FORT BRAGG, N.C. – On Friday Lt. Col. Steven Moon will be promoted to colonel by his son, marking a full circle of sorts in terms of the celebration.
Last July, Moon had the pleasure of promoting his son, Steve, to first lieutenant while the younger Moon served in Afghanistan. Steve will happily return the favor May 15, at 7 p.m. when he pins the rank of colonel on his father during a ceremony at the Legacy Lakes Plantation House in Aberdeen, N.C.
“This is exciting, you know I promoted my son to first lieutenant in a combat zone, so for him having the opportunity to promote me it’s like coming full circle,” said Moon.
Moon currently serves on full time military orders as an operations officer with the Institute for Military Support to Governance, U.S. Army John F. Kennedy Special Warfare Center and School, at Fort Bragg, N.C. He is assigned to the Joint Public Affairs Support Element in Norfolk, Va., as a team lead.
His son is a human resources officer for the 4th Infantry Division at Fort Carson, Colo.
