Employer Orientation Day to be at McChord Field Saturday

JOINT BASE LEWIS MCCHORD, Wash. - The 446th Airlift Wing, an Air Force Reserve unit, will host its Washington State Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve sponsored employer orientation day event here May 2.

ESGR, a Department of Defense agency, and the 446th AW run this biannual event (also known as "Bosslift") to foster a wholesome employer - Citizen Airman relationship by educating company supervisors, executives and representatives on the significant roles Airmen play for the Reserve mission.

"Providing this opportunity allows our supportive employers to see the mission of our Guard and Reserve first hand," said John Patterson, Washington ESGR State chair. "The partnership with ESGR and the 446th Airlift Wing is outstanding. We're fortunate to have them in our area supporting the Bosslift."

Over the course of the day, Reservists will provide presentations and demonstrations of their aeromedical evacuation and staging units, security forces tactics team and air transportation and logistics unit, all on a static C-17 Globemaster III.

Employers will also receive familiarization on the protective chemical, biological, nuclear and explosive ordnance disposal equipment Airmen utilize when serving in locations where these threats have a higher likelihood of taking place.

To top off the day, Reservists will escort their employers on a C-17 orientation flight, with a cargo air drop and combat offload, and end the day with a tour of their workstations.
